Emily Brown is currently a full-time professor in the Pilon School of Business at Sheridan College, where she teaches mathematics in both the diploma and degree business programs. She provides an active voice for mathematics education on a variety of college-system wide committees. Emily also acts as an advisor for the teacher education program at Niagara University.
After growing up and completing her early post-secondary education at the University of Toronto, and Lambton College, Emily worked in the oil and gas sector, in Ontario and abroad before moving to Alberta.
Emily found a passion for teaching and learning while volunteering with young people, and decided to return to university to complete a Bachelor of Education degree, followed by a Master of Education degree, with a specific focus on Mathematics for Teaching from the University of Calgary. Emily taught at a charter school in Calgary as a mathematics and science specialist.

Emily’s work in Ontario with the College Student Achievement Project, a 10-year research and development project comprised of the 24 Colleges across Ontario afforded Emily a rich view of the Ontario landscape in mathematics education, and the opportunity to work collaboratively with all the various post-secondary institutions and school boards in the province.
